Dear Parents and Guardians:
Happy Summer, LES family! What a wonderful year of fun, making memories, learning and success we have had here at The Nest during the 2025-2026 school year! We cannot thank you enough for all that you've done to help us make this such an incredible year for our school family!
Summer is here, and we hope that you and your family will have a summer filled with fun in the sun, friendship and family! The summer weeks will pass quickly, and the 2026 - 2027 school year will be here before we know it! Enjoy each moment, and have fun making the greatest of memories with your family!
Over the next few weeks, our school family will be working hard preparing for the 2026-2027 school year and awaiting with enthusiasm, energy and excitement for our students' return! Our back-to-school summer registration will be the first event of the new school year, and we hope to see each of you there! Registration will be held on June 16th and June 17th from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the Lake High School main building. (All Lake schools will register at this location.) ALL returning students and new enrollees must complete registration during this time. Please visit our homepage or the SCSD website for acceptable proofs of residency required for registration.
We are excited about the great things that await our school family in 2026 - 2027! We had such an incredible year last year, and we are confident that this year will be another remarkable year at The Nest! We are looking forward to the energy, excitement and engagement that fills our classrooms daily, and we look forward to seeing our students and staff working hard TOGETHER to ensure another year of successful academic endeavors! TOGETHER, I am confident that the 2026-2027 school year will hold an immeasurable abundance of blessings and success for our school family!
As we continue to move forward into the new school year, I'd like to challenge each of you to commit to reading to your child for at least 30 minutes each day. Research has shown that "reading just 20 minutes a day exposes a child to a vast quantity of words (1.8 million in each school year, actually!). As a result, this exposure makes children more likely to score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests, compared to children who read just 5 minutes per day — and are therefore more likely to score in the 50th percentile — it’s easy to see how reading time translates to academic success. Meanwhile, a separate study involving almost 10 million students showed "only those reading at least 15 minutes a day achieved accelerated reading gains, and those reading less were at risk of falling behind their peers." Thank you for committing to help us building STRONGER READERS at LES!
Again, I'd like to thank you for the help and support you have given throughout the years to LES! I genuinely love and appreciate each of you and what you do to help our staff, students and Lake Elementary School! As always, I am honored to serve each of you and your families, our school and our community, and I'm BEYOND BLESSED to be a small part of such a wonderful school family! If I can do anything to help you, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thanks so much,
Mrs. Seale :)
